What The Frock! and Bristol Ladyfest have made the difficult decision to amend the line-up to the comedy gig on July 8, and unfortunately Ellie Taylor will no longer be appearing.
Ellie is the new host of BBC3’s show ‘Snog. Marry, Avoid’, on which the character Pod this week made disparaging comments about a contestant apparently looking like a transsexual.
What the Frock! and Bristol Ladyfest completely understand and accept that Ellie herself did not make the comment, however as the face of ‘Snog, Marry, Avoid’ we felt she was too closely linked to a show that has made comments we strongly oppose, and which are at odds with what we believe.
The organisers of both What The Frock! and Bristol Ladyfest do not condone any kind of transphobic comment, and we support the LGBT community.
Please be assured that the comedy night on Sunday, July 8, at The Lanes, Silver Street, is very much still going ahead. Doors opens at 7am, with comedy starting at 7.30pm. Compered by Rosie Wilby, your comedians will be Elf Lyons, Zahra Barri and the double act O’Shea & Ogilvie. Don’t forget there will also be reduced price bowling!
Tickets are available now from http://drunkenwerewolf.bigcartel.com/, and they will also be available at a discount during the fundraising quiz night on Monday, June 11, upstairs at the Big Chill, Small Street, from 7.30pm. Please check the What The Frock! and Bristol Ladyfest websites for full details of this and all other events.
